[William Thomas Vickers was the son of William Vicars, born
abt 1775 in Fincastle, VA, died in 1827 in Warren County, TN. His wife is
unknown. His father was Robert "Robin" Vickers, born November 8,
1747 in Longdon, England. He died March 13, 1821 in Russell Co., VA.
Robert married Lydia Jackson. Robert was in the American Revolution and
served in the Dunmore War. Robert's father was James Vicars, b. September
3, 1720 in London, Middlesex, England. He died 1785 in Russell Co.,
Va. His wife is unknown. James's father was William Vicars, born
1690 in London, England. He married Sarah ? abt 1713 problably in London,
England. This lineage can be traced back to William Vicars born 1550 in London

All census records indicated that William Thomas was born in TN. An early land grant was issued for William on July 28, 1838 for 40 acres in Hamilton Co., IL In this document he states that he is from Stewart Co., TN. This land is described as: Sec 35/Twp 6-S/Range 7-E, Hamilton Co., IL.

Petition of John H. Vickers and Felix Gross in the matter of the estate of William Vickers deceased for letters of administration to Wilson L. Howard to the Hon. Lloyd Leonard, Judge of the County Court of Hamilton Co. in the State of IL the petition of the undersigned son and son-in-law respectfully represents that William Vickers late of the County of Hamilton of foresaid departed this life at his home in said County on or about the 7th day of May AD 1874, leaving no last will and testament as far as your petitioners know or believe. And this petition further shows that the said William Vickers died, seized and possessed of real and personal estate, consisting chiefly of about 214 acres of real estate, household & kitchen furniture, and farming implements, horses, cattle, mules, Swine, one half interest in threshing ___, one reaper and mower combined, one ___ and other property. More ___ accounts. All of said personal estate to be worth about 800 dollars. That said, deceased left surviving him - Nancy Jane Vickers, his widow; John H. Vickers, Philip Vickers, William J. Vickers, Elizabeth Hamilton, Nancy Gross, Michael M. Vickers, ____Vickers, Thomas Vickers, Guy Vickers, Andy Vickers, and heirs of Leondo Vickers; his children and grandchildren as heirs. That your petitioner (being son and son-in-law of said deceased and) believing that the said estate should be immediately administered, as well for the proper management of said estate as for the prompt collection of the assets, by virtue of their right under the statute therefore pray that your Honor will grant letters of administration to Wilson L. Howard and ___ in the premises, upon his taking the oath prescribed by the statute and entering into the bond in such sum, and with securities, as may be approved by your Honor.

daughter, Mrs. Susan Barker, Mt. Vernon, IL.
Mr. Vickers was a former resident of Hamilton County, where he was born
and for many years was a farmer. For
the past two years, he has made his home in Mt. Vernon with his daughter.
The body will be taken to Broughton tomorrow afternoon and burial will
take place at Big Hill Cemetery in Hamilton Co., IL.

Lavonia Adora Harrelson was born July 24, 1862, departed this life April 20,
1924, age 62 years, 8 months and 26 days. She
was married to H. T. Vickers December 7, 1892.
To this union three children were born, Mrs. Rella McMahon, Mrs. Nellie
Grimes and Lofton Vickers. She
leaves a companion, three children, one sister and a host of other relatives and
friends. She professed faith in Christ several years ago, and lived a faithful
Christian until death. She has gone to make the land that is fairer than day
still brighter. A voice we loved is
stilled, a place is vacant in our home that never can be filled. Funeral service
was held at Prospect church April 21st at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev. C. M.
Prince of Norris City and the body was laid to rest until the resurrection
morning. Burial: Prospect Cemetery.
