Mrs. Mary A. (Williams - James) Fairweather

(1840 - 1928)

          Mary A. Fairweather, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Williams, was born in Pope County, Tennessee, October 28, 1840; departed this life November 20, 1928.  Age 88 years and 22 days.

           She came to Illinois at an early age and was married to Hiram James in February 1858.  To this union two sons were born, George and John.  She was preceded in death by her son, John, and also by her husband, Hiram James, who died August 19, 1903.

           She was again united in marriage in 1909 to William Fairweather, who died June 28, 1914.

           She professed faith in Christ about 22 years ago, and united with the Baptist Church at New Hope, afterwards changing her membership to the McLeansboro Baptist Church, where she remained a member until death.

           She leaves to mourn her departure one son, George James, one brother, Hiram Williams, one nephew, John Williams, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of friends.

          Funeral services were conducted at New Hope church Wednesday, Nov. 21, conducted by Elder John B. Maulding.  Interment in New Hope cemetery.
