Mary C. Johnson Fisher

Pub. McLeansboro Times, December 27, 1917

The subject of this sketch, Mary C. Johnson Fisher, daughter of John and Nancy Johnson, was born March 5th, 1853, departed this life at her home in Macedonia Monday morning, Dec. 17, 1917, at 9:30 a.m. having passed her 64th birthday.  She was married to W. A. Fisher, her now bereaved husband, January 7, 1872.  To this union were born six children, vis. Minnie Duckworth of Bluford; Mattie Lee of Mt. Vernon; Eva Gullie of Springerton; Ada Vise of Ewing; Pender of Macedonia; Mrs. Cora Sneed having preceded her mother some 22 years ago.

Sister Fisher was converted and joined the M. E. church at Macedonia in 1870.  Thus 47 years of faithful Christian service has been spent in our midst.  This joyous and luminous experience was the foundation of her church activities, her love for others, her pure home life and her final and glorious triuph.  Her faith never weakened and in the last weeks of her life she often expressed her eagerness for the revival to start at her _____.

[She leaves husband, five children, fourteen grandchildren.  Interred at Macedonia Cemetery.]
