Hugh McIntosh

Hugh McIntosh, the son of Jeffrey and Electran McIntosh, was born near Springerton, Ill., May 31, 1862, and departed this life August 24, 1929, at the age of 67 years.

He professed faith in Christ and joined the Christian Church in 1884.  On December 14, 1881, he was united in marriage to Celestia I. Wallace.  Five children blessed this union. Celestia, his wife, passed away December 10, 1894.

He again was united in marriage to Malinda Daily September 18, 1895.  To this union was born one son, Wilford, of Louisville, Ky.

He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, the one son, and three daughters, Fanny Huff of Rome, Ind., Francis Bennett of Indianapolis, Ind., Ruth Lauderbach of Flora, Ill., his aged mother, Electran McIntosh, of Springerton, Ill, two sisters, Mary Musgroves of Springerton. Ill., and Martha Fyie of Fairfield, Ill., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the residence in McLeansboro at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, and were conducted by Rev. Henry Kello, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Springer cemetery.

He is gone; his work is done; he has been taken to a field of glory, to a home of eternal rest.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Cliff McCibbins of Bone Gap, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. William Foremaker of Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Ben Miller of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Mrs. Alice Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sanders of Bloomington, Ill., and Miss Lucille Daily of Withee, Wisconsin.
